Just Cana Ramblin'...
August 2008
"Summertime is past and gone...."
A good old bluegrass lyric. Maybe summer is not officially over, but with school starting again, Laura Leigh is thinking about getting her new apartment in Blacksburg set up, Will-Caitlin-Mary Alden have christened the doorways at CCHS as Seniors (can you believe it?) and Trish is getting her gear ready for another year of convincing middle schoolers that P.E. is a GOOD thing! Ashley will see just how many miles she can accumulate on her car this year between college and work. Phillip will...just keep doing what Phillip does!
Four of the five regular CR members enjoyed a week at the annual Galax Fiddlers Convention. Rick was unable to attend this year but a good friend and admired musician, Stevie Barr, stepped in with some awesome banjo work. He did his part in assisting the acquisition of a fine second place finish in the Bluegrass band competition. Way to go gang! That red ribbon looks good on you.
We want to remember Buster Jones and his lovely wife Mary Lee. Buster is the father of Phillip and has been dealing with some health issues this summer. We were glad to hear that he's been doing a little better. Our prayers are with him and Mary Lee.
Also some get well wishes go out to "Trudy". Trudy is a feline Jones family member that had a bad meeting with a Copperhead snake. We are glad to report that she is recovering well.
We want to extend sympathy to "Pa Rod" Iroler (Patricia's Dad) as he lost two brothers this year.
The Ramblers will be tuning up again soon at the end of August and again in September for a couple local shows. Check out the show dates page for more information. We hope to see you there!!!!
Until then...I'm looking forward to the Fall. My favorite season of the year.
God Bless you all.
